Nice to meet you
I'm Emmi, an environmentally focused writer and creator, who serves as an advocate for ecosystems and communities through sharp, creative, and strategic communication. I am passionate about storytelling and shaping influential messages that will capture attention and inspire action.

From my POV...
I am inspired by connecting people and the planet.
Since graduating from the College of Charleston's Master of Environmental and Sustainability Studies program, I've launched a purpose-driven career in scientific and impact storytelling that applies my background in communication to conservation, policy and advocacy, and outreach.
I feel most myself and inspired to be at my best when I’m exploring, having new experiences, and building community with others who share those same values. As an avid yogi, hiker, paddler, and traveler, I’m someone who gets things done while taking the scenic route, a believer in showing more than telling, and not afraid to venture off the beaten path!
Let's get to work!

What I'm all about:
Coastal Conservation & Environmental Issues
Over the last five years, I've worked locally and statewide on projects communicating about science-based issues like energy and climate, wildlife and coastal management, land use and transportation, sustainable food systems, clean water and healthy habitat, and more.
Advocacy, Community Engagement & Outreach
My favorite kind of work (and play) lives at the intersection of communication, policy, advocacy, and the lifestyle of caring. So far, I've worked on educating and building awareness, strengthening engagement, and creating opportunities for people to take meaningful action around the places and issues that matter most to them. I've learned it's all about relationship-building and trust, being intentional and authentic, speaking up, and empowering others to do the same.

Brand & The Big Picture
I approach communications through both a creative and strategic lens, shaping messaging and visual identity that is consistent, cohesive, authentic, and purpose-driven. I know when to zoom in or out, recognize a necessary pivot, and am in tune with the 10,000 foot view. I always want to get it right!
Impact Storytelling
I'm always looking for ways to build narratives that make layered environmental and community issues feel accessible, personal, and actionable. Whether it's celebrating successes, communicating outcomes, demonstrating value of support, or shining a light on something new, I get most excited about translating complexity and connecting the dots for a range of audiences.
